Upcoming training and events presented by other providers
Ruah Community Services, Justice and Family Services is offering the women’s refuge service system and the men’s behaviour change service system, a free two-hour workshop on Compassion Fatigue. The workshop is based on the work of Barbara Stamm’s model of Professional Quality of Life (ProQol) and includes a pragmatic toolkit for staff and supervisors.
DV-alert is funded by the Department of Social Services and is a key initiative under the National Plan to Reduce Violence Against Women and their Children 2010-2022. Domestic and family violence Response Training (DV-alert) is a free national training program designed for health, allied health and community frontline workers. This training aims to increase workers confidence in – Recognising signs of domestic and family violence – Responding with appropriate care – Referring women and their children subjected to or at risk of domestic and family violence to appropriate support services. DV-alert is available in various nationally recognised training streams: – General Workshop – Indigenous Workshop – Multicultural Workshop – Settlement Services Workshop – Tailored Workshop – Working with Women with Disabilities Workshop and – e-Learning Course For more information on these workshops and the updating dates in your area, click here.
Run by Anglicare, this two day workshop will begin by exploring definitions of family and domestic violence, its prevalence and common presentations as well as the policy context. The workshop will also unpack the commonly used therapeutic counselling models including Steven Stosny’s Compassion/Power Model, Alan Jenkins’ Invitation to Responsibility and the Duluth Model. This training will provide opportunities to critique the underlying assumptions of each model. Assessment and Intervention of Perpetrators of Domestic Violence is designed for professionals currently working or desiring to work in the field of Family and Domestic Violence.

Run by Anglicare, this one day workshop will provide participants with a contemporary perspective of family and domestic violence and provide skills in working with victims of family and domestic violence, how to assess for domestic violence and working with perpetrators of family and domestic violence. This workshop is suitable for those working with women and children managing and surviving violence and abuse and for those undertaking work with perpetrators of family and domestic violence and abuse.
