Supporting victims of Family and Domestic Violence through the COVID-19 crisis

Supportive video for FDV victims

Stopping Family Violence, together with the Department of Communities and the Women’s Council for Domestic and Family Violence Services WA, is hoping you will help send a supportive message to victims of domestic and family violence during and after the social distancing and isolation resulting from COVID-19.

We are seeking women with lived experience of family and domestic violence, workers involved in the sector, and well-known people to record themselves in a 3-5 second video that will be edited together with others, into a video of approx. 90 – 120 seconds long. The video will be promoted via social media channels and other networks, as an alternative way of communicating to victims of family and domestic violence that they have the support of the community and that services are available 24/7.

Record a video of support

Record yourself communicating only one of these messages that is mentioned in this attached letter to join us in supporting victims of Family and Domestic Violence during and after COVID-19.

The Department of Communities has also created a guide to taking great videos on a mobile phone, but please remember to sign and return the consent form along with your video – otherwise, the Department cannot use your video.

The need for a quick turnaround is high so please take the plunge and record your video and return by 8am Wednesday 27 May following the instructions in this letter by the Department of Communities.

Please share this video with your networks.
